FINISHED the Mill Girls top!!!

Finished it last night.  This view is as much of it as I could get in my camera.

Top almost done!

This is a quilt I'm making for my boss's daughter.  It is all pink and brown and I don't think this picture does it at all justice.

There will be borders though....

Christmas 2011

Christmas morning view from our apartment.
The dining table before the big dinner.
Just a 3' tree this year but pretty enough for me.  Yeah, that grey bar is the Treadmill.

Looking INTO our apartment from outside on Christmas Eve.

Civil War Quilts block

The last block for the Barbara Brackman Civil War Quilts I looked at on Christmas Eve and was so enthused I selected fabrics for it.  Then, while awake in the wee hours of Christmas morn' (the joy of menopause) I cut it out and sewed it up and here is the beauty!

The other thing I'm working on just now

is this fall leaves quilt.  There will be logs around each of these 9" blocks.  I'm using batiks in this one for the first time and just loving every scrap of them I cut and use.   This one is winning me over to batiks.

Latest books

Just got these three books recently.  My favorite title is, "Making the Quilt we didn't inherit" which is the subtitle to Link to the '30's.  That is truly what I am doing.

Each book has some truly fabulous designs.  The butterfly on the cover at the top is pieced and is, I think, the coolest butterfly design I've ever seen.

Stash & some Storage

Here is where my stash is, all but scraps and a bin of strip bits.  It is a bit messy as I am in the midst of 3 projects....

And some of my flat plastic storage for block in progress.

Fallen in love with 30's prints

It's finally happened, I have fallen in love with 30th prints something I never thought would happen.   Here is my new mini-stash along with 3 other reds that I got on sale at a quilt shop recently.   Just like candy in a way....

And here are 3 fabrics I got on sale from Connecting Threads, much more somber in tone.

New project....

I do not need another new project but I couldn't resist after seeing a friend working on hers at the retreat.
It is  called Hearts & Apron Strings.
This is the center and first row, as it were.  I haven't stitched down the blades of the Dresden Plate center and I made them longer than the original.

I am also using two (maybe three) different backgrounds which you can tell if you look at it close enough.

Just gotta report...

I am recouperating from that cold or flu or whatever it was and at 4 am this morning I could sleep no more thanks to coughing and some congestion.   So I got up and started in on my Mill Creek blocks all laid out and ready to be sewn - I should get a picture - and I now have another row done but for some sashing, 12 blocks now done!
