Utaupia - nearly finished when...

...my arms gave out.  I stressed them too much doing the outer machine quilting and binding all in one evening.   I got through one and one-half sides of the binding and had to stop.  My arms are badly stressed and ALL sewing and quilting is on hold.
After taking these two pictures I had to put it away so I would not be tempted to sew on it.  At least I can look at on the blog for now....

Another purse made!

Feedsack Squares - Finished

Actually, it's been on my bed for months but I only now got round to taking some pictures of it, this very morning, before work.
It is wonderfully soft and pliable and has this wonderful ORANGE binding.   I surprised myself by choosing it, never thought I'd use Orange for a binding.
I like how the clamshell quilting shows up in this photo.  Like it?  I love it!

Dear old thing!  "Making the quilts we didn't inherit."

Blue Wonder

I'm going to call this one Blue Wonder.   It is going to a Veteran when it is done.  I just started quilting it last night.  Here goes another one......

Nearly done with Civil War Love Letter blocks!!

There are now two (2) left to sew together, 3 to iron and get scanned in and then I will have completed all 121 blocks of the Civil War Love Letters.  I'm pretty excited about it.
It has been a long, long journey which started in October 2009.

Second Purse made!

AT last!
I have wanted this purse done for many years now.

Two more are cut out and ready to be assembled but it will be awhile before they are done

Everything about this purse is just perfect.

Finally got the purse made!

Having bought the Indygo pattern 4 years ago and thanks now to a workshop at the new Wabash Valley Quilts store, I have made my first purse.

Another one sandwiched!

I am working on 4 quilts for charity and yesterday I got this one "sandwiched".

At the sew-day a friend got this top sewn together.   The letters are from a relative of hers written during the Civil War.   The colors in this photo are not at all near how wonderful it looked.    It is a really awesome piece.

Clamshell at last!

I've been sooo wanting to do the clamshell style quilting (I have a nice template for it) all over a quilt and after over a weeks thought I decided it would be good to do on my feedsack squares quilt.

And here is a picture of the Utaupia quilt I am hand-quilting (the sashing) and machine quilting (the squares).  I'm using another of my stencil collection for the sashing and just love it!

Something done....

I managed to get things done this past Saturday sew-day.  Finally this top is sandwiched and I can begin hand-quilting it.   How I plan to do so is unknown just yet but it will be hand-quilted.   It has been put away so long awaiting sandwiching that I forgot how delightful the colorful square are.

I also got the main body of my taupe quilt sandwiched in sections.   I started quilting the sashing just for the heck of it and love the swirly lines.    The sections are perfect for taking to work and doing some stitching on my lunch hour.   I am planning, at this point, on machine stitching in the ditch for the main body of the blocks.
