New Fabrics and 2 books

At the local Vendor's Village I found an applique book and an album quilts book which just up my alley at this time (see below).   I also found some wonderful fabrics yesterday.  Now all washed and ironed, here they be...
It's great because I did not have a lavender/purple white polka-dot material.  The green one to the right of it is reproduction fabric I am sure thanks to the year of Barb Brackman's Stars in a Time Warp.    The lovely blue roses stuff is Legacy Studio Afternoon Tea - a name I just LOVE since I love Tea time.

Barbara Brackman's Hospital Sketches applique blocks

I SOOOO wanted to do this quilt back in 2019 but I just wasn't ready to take a plunge into applique.
But thanks to the times (the shutdown) I suddenly realized it was time to begin!   So here are pics of where I am at with it now.
Rose of Sharon

Pineapple - I added some leaves at the bases.

Mountain Laurel - got some batiks in this one.

Love Apple (still just pinned down)

Star of the East, also just pinned down.

The actual cutting out of pieces is going on over on my drawing board which is next to the window.

Workspace now....

It's small and tight, but it works.  The wooden spool holder I made as I am now doing some applique and when I quilt I often use more than one spool and/or color of thread.  Below is a closer picture of it.  It's pretty simple but it is just what I wanted - and it has been years and years I've wanted one of these.
